Evelyn Mathis Awarded 2008 Employee of the Year by Magnolia Regional Health Center
Magnolia Regional Health Center is happy to announce our 2008 Employee of the Year, Evelyn Mathis. Evelyn has been working at MRHC for twenty-one years in the Education Department where she currently serves as Education Specialist. Evelyn enjoys this position because it brings her in contact with our over 1100 employees, whom she enjoys meeting and helping. The Employee of the Year is chosen from the 12 employees of the month nominated through the year. These individuals are chosen by their peers as the “star” employee who consistently meets and utilizes the customer service standards of behavior, as well as, promotes MRHC’s Mission, Vision and Values day-to-day.
Evelyn has been described by her co-workers as having a, “kind heart and expressing kindness, cheerfulness, and a willingness to help no matter what the situation. She treats each employee as though they are all she has to do - one employee at a time.” Evelyn consistently goes above and beyond the call of duty for both the Education Department and the hospital. She never has a day when there is not a smile on her face for all who enter the department, regardless of the type of day she is having. According to Director of Clinical Education, Betsy Wood, “It is a pleasure to know Evelyn. She is dedicated to the Education Department and to MRHC. She is an excellent role model as Employee of the Year and a well deserving recipient.” Evelyn takes advantage of her job to review the mission, vision, and values of the organization with new employees, as well as countless others with whom she comes into contact. She will happily stop whatever she is doing to assist an inquiring employee, before completing her current task.
Evelyn and her husband Danny will be celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary in May. They have two children, Ginger who is an attorney in Senatobia, MS and Justin who will graduate in May from Mississippi State University and has just passed the national boards to become a veterinarian. Evelyn enjoys several activities during her time off such as reading, walking and spending time with her family - especially her two grandchildren.
When asked how it made her feel to be chosen as Employee of the Year Evelyn said, “I have been blessed with many wonderful friends while at MRHC. I enjoy my job and am thankful for it.”
MRHC would like to congratulate Evelyn for this honored award of Employee of the Year.
