Magnolia Regional Health Center Introduces Customer Service Ambassadors to Increase Patient Communication
Magnolia Regional Health Center began their Service Excellence Ambassador program on April 23, 2009. The role of these Ambassadors is to assist patients and families that are visiting the Emergency Department, providing blankets, coffee, communication or anything to improve comfort. The Ambassadors become the advocate for the family and are responsible for ensuring that comfort and communication are available to all, acting as the liaison between the family and the healthcare services provided. The Ambassadors make rounds in the front waiting room of the Emergency Department, as well as on each patient while in the examination rooms. By providing these services, the Ambassadors follow the patient throughout his or her care until the patient is discharged. The Service Excellence Ambassador program arose from a need to keep patients and their families informed (i.e. updates on wait times) and cared for from the time they enter the facility to the time they exit. According to Angela Jackson, Chief of Organizational Excellence, “it is very important that each patient and their family feel that they are cared for and assisted in every way possible throughout their entire stay at MRHC. The Service Excellence Ambassador program supports our ongoing customer service initiative to provide very good care, one patient at a time.”
Magnolia Regional Health Center currently has three Ambassadors on staff, two of which are full time employees. The Ambassadors are available in the Emergency Department to provide assistance to patients and their families from noon until midnight.
