Magnolia Regional Health Center Announces Opening of Magnolia Wound & Hyperbaric Center of Excellence

Magnolia Regional Health Center offers hope to patients suffering from wounds that will not heal. MRHC has joined with Shared Health Services, Inc., a nationally known provider of hospital based wound care and hyperbaric medicine centers, to open a newly restructured wound care and hyperbaric medicine center locally.

This center has been designed to help heal wounds that are particularly problematic to treat. Magnolia Wound & Hyperbaric Center of Excellence provides the most comprehensive, modern and compassionate wound care available. It offers cutting edge advanced clinical approaches to wound management, including Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBO), an advanced medical treatment which employs oxygen at levels higher than atmospheric pressure to enhance natural healing for the treatment of chronic wounds. HBO is a highly effective treatment option for those suffering from chronic wounds. For those with chronic wounds due to diabetes, poor circulation and/or vascular disease, HBO is an effective adjunctive therapy to promote faster healing.

“Some of the most chronic wounds occur as complications of a host of medical conditions,” explained David Pizzimenti, D.O., Medical Director of Magnolia Wound & Hyperbaric Center of Excellence. Dr. Pizzimenti cites arterial/venous ulcers, diabetic ulcers, chronic infections, unrelieved pressure sores, traumatic injuries, post-operative complications and radiation injuries as some of the underlying conditions which are frequently responsible for the delayed healing of many chronic wounds. He continued, “Our wound care team focuses on the source of the wound so that the best treatment plan can be determined.”

Under the direction of Drs. David Pizzimenti and Marissa Cruz, a multi-disciplinary team of wound care specialists, including general surgeons, podiatrists, vascular surgeons, and highly-skilled certified wound care registered nurses, works to achieve some of the best healing rates and fastest healing times in the nation. During the patient’s visit, the wound care team is able to perform many advanced treatment modalities making it one of the most convenient, comprehensive and sophisticated wound facilities in the region.
“Magnolia Regional Health Center is committed to providing our patients with the highest quality, comprehensive care possible,” stated Ronny Humes, Chief Operating Officer of MRHC. “We are excited to bring this highly needed service to our community.”
