Position Title: Credentialed Coder - HIM

Department:HIM
Position Description: Accountable for conversion of diagnoses and treatment procedures into codes using an international classification of diseases. Skilled in the assignment and sequencing of diagnoses/procedures to ensure proper reimbursement. Ensures that records are coded in an accurate and timely manner.

    Qualifications:
    Education:B.S in Health Information Management or Medical Record Administration and having passed the Registry Examination with the credentials RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator), RHIT, or CCS. One year experience in DRG assignment, abstracting systems and ICD-CM and CPT coding preferably in an acute care facility. Should have experience and knowledge of office management and computerization. Should be a member of AHIMA and be knowledgeable of JCAHO standards, state, and federal laws regarding health information, and be capable of revising/developing policies and procedures regarding health information.
    Experience:One year experience in DRG assignment, abstracting systems and ICD-9-CM is a plus

    License Required:Individual must have a RHIA/RHIT or CCS thru AHIMA.
