Position Title: Physical Therapist Assistant

Department:Physical Therapy
Position Description: The staff Physical Therapist Assistant functions under the general supervision of the Director of Rehabilitation Services, Inpatient and/or Outpatient and under the direct supervision of the therapist responsible for a specific patient's care. The staff Physical Therapist Assistant assumes responsibility and accountability for providing physical therapy modalities and treatment procedures as determined by a treatment plan established by an Physical Therapist and in accordance with established hospital and departmental policies while maintaining the highest degree of quality patient care.

    Qualifications:
    Education:Must be a graduate of or have a certificate from an American Physical Therapy Association-approved school of Physical Therapist Assistants.
    Must have current CPR certification.
    Experience:Preferred minimum of two (2) years clinical experience
    Physical Requirements:Must have a good physical stamina to work in this department.
    Must be fairly strong and energetic.
    Must have good color vision and speed and a healthy back.
    Must be able to be on his / her feet most of the day.
    Must be able to tolerate much walking, standing, stooping, lifting various weights 0-100 pounds, balancing, sitting, kneeling, hearing, reaching, climbing, pulling, pushing, carrying, turning, handling, writing, talking, seeing, hearing, smelling, feeling. The degree to which any of these is done depends on the techniques being used.
    Must have coordination of sight and body movements in various applications and procedures.
    Must be able to perform techniques of assisting and handling patients.
    Must have the ability to handle the tools and machines of the profession.
    License Required: Must have or be eligible for Mississippi state licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant per state law.
