Position Title: Speech Language Pathologist

Department:Rehab
Position Description: The staff Speech-Language Pathologist functions under the general supervision of the Director Rehabilitation Services, Inpatient and / or Outpatient. The staff Speech-Language Pathologist assumes responsibility and accountability for a designated group of patients and provides speech and language therapy evaluations, modalities and treatments in accordance with established hospital and departmental policies and procedures, maintaining the highest degree of quality patient care.

    Qualifications:
    Education:Must be a graduate of or have a certificate from an American Speech Language and Hearing Association-approved school of Speech-Language Pathology.
    Must have current CPR certification.
    Experience:Preferred minimum of two (2) years clinical experience
    Physical Requirements:Must have a good physical stamina to work in this department.
    Must be fairly strong and energetic.
    Must have good color vision and speed and a healthy back.
    Must be able to be on his / her feet most of the day.
    Must be able to tolerate much walking, standing, stooping, lifting various weights 0-100 pounds, balancing, sitting, kneeling, hearing, reaching, climbing, pulling, pushing, carrying, turning, handling, writing, talking, seeing, hearing, smelling, feeling. The degree to which any of these is done depends on the techniques being used.
    Must have coordination of sight and body movements in various applications and procedures.
    Must be able to perform techniques of assisting and handling patients.
    Must have the ability to handle the tools and machines of the profession.
    Clear speech and adequate hearing are needed for extensive interpersonal communication.
    License Required: Must have or be eligible for Mississippi state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist per state law.
