Position Title: Telecom Technician - Please see qualifications

Position Description: The Telecom Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance and repairs of all telecommunications systems for the facility. This includes, desktop, PBX, key systems  mobile phones, internal and external pagers, fax machines, fax servers and voice mail systems. The Telecom Technician will lead MRHC in implementing new technologies and upgrading existing systems to support the hospital’s progress.  The Telecom Technician is also responsible for coordinating activities with outside telecom agencies and  monitoring telephone invoices and charges. The Communications Technician will be responsible for assisting in departmental/hospital projects, as his or her skills are needed. The Telecom Technician also implements and supports facility desktop and network equipment, and is the key technical resource responding to end user telecom and desktop incidents and requests reported to the Service Desk.  Candidate will participate in a call rotation to provide in 24x7 on-call support to the facility.  An AA degree in information systems or healthcare related field preferred. Must have at least five years progressive IT and/or telecommunications  experience in hardware and sw deployment Must have proven track record in a structured help desk environment and working toward project and service level deadlines.  Basic certification in A+ , CISCO,Microsoft or PBX systems certifications are desired

    Physical Requirements: Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, lifting, stooping and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports. Requires lifting papers and/or boxes up to 50 pounds. Work is performed in an office environment. Work may be stressful at times. Contact may involve dealing with angry or upset people. Staff must remain flexible and available to provide staffing assistance for any/all disaster or emergency situations. Occasional travel between facilities may be required.

    Must be flexible, regular scheduled 8-hour shifts, weekends, holidays required. Exposed to equipment and staff noise, alarm sounds and interruptions. Equipment to be used includes a computer, general office equipment, tools and equipment related to the Telecommunications profession.
