Screenings
Colon Cancer Screening: Colorectal cancer is one of the most preventable forms of cancer when detected early. Colonoscopy allows physicians to identify and remove precancerous polyps before they become cancerous.
Barrett’s Esophagus Screening: Recommended for patients with chronic GERD symptoms, this upper endoscopy (EGD) screening evaluates the esophagus for changes associated with Barrett’s esophagus. Early detection can help identify patients at increased risk for esophageal cancer and guide appropriate monitoring and treatment.
Cirrhosis Screening: Designed for patients with fatty liver disease, this screening uses specialized laboratory testing and imaging to assess liver health and detect signs of cirrhosis. Early identification can help guide treatment and reduce the risk of complications.

Dr. Phillips is a Mayo Clinic–trained gastroenterologist with more than 30 years of experience in digestive health, liver disease, and hepatology. Known for his expertise and patient-centered approach, Dr. Phillips provides comprehensive care for a wide range of gastrointestinal and liver conditions and is a member of both the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Gastroenterological Association.
Ashley Vaughn Long, FNP-C
Ashley Long has more than 20 years of healthcare experience with a specialization in digestive health and hepatology. Having worked alongside Dr. John O. Phillips for many years, she brings extensive expertise in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of gastrointestinal and liver conditions while providing compassionate, patient-centered care.
