Magnolia Regional Health Center’s Post-Graduate Year One Pharmacy Residency Program

The postgraduate year one (PGY1) pharmacy residency program at Magnolia Regional Health Center is an accreditation candidate through the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). At the completion of the program, residents will be competent, confident, and independent practitioners of pharmacy practice. Residents will be given in-depth experience in broad areas of pharmacy practice including nutritional support, pharmacokinetics, internal medicine, infectious disease, critical care, informatics, hospice, emergency medicine, cardiology, and administration.

Magnolia Regional Health Center offers two PGY1 pharmacy residency positions annually in an acute care hospital setting. The residency features four weeks of orientation to the department and up to ten month-long learning experiences. Throughout the year, residents will have the opportunity to participate in five different longitudinal experiences, including a major residency project, academia, hospice, ambulatory medicine, and staffing. Residents have the opportunity to present in-services to other healthcare providers, as well as, serve as preceptors to pharmacy students during IPPE and APPE rotations. Other projects are also required throughout the year. Teaching opportunities are available, including an optional teaching certificate program available through the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy.

Required Core Rotations: Orientation and Operations, Pharmacy Administration and Management, Informatics and Automation, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Nephrology, Critical Care, Cardiology, Psychiatry, Infectious Disease

Required Longitudinal Rotations: Academia, Ambulatory Care, Inpatient Pharmacy Staffing, Research/Project Management

Elective Rotations: Advanced Practice Experiences in core rotations or others available per resident interest
