PGY1 Pharmacy Residency

Magnolia Regional Health Center’s Post-Graduate Year One Pharmacy Residency Program

The postgraduate year one (PGY1) pharmacy residency program at Magnolia Regional Health Center is accredited through the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). At the completion of the program, residents will be competent, confident, and independent practitioners of pharmacy practice. Residents will be given in-depth experience in broad areas of pharmacy practice including nutritional support, pharmacokinetics, internal medicine, infectious disease, critical care, informatics, emergency medicine, cardiology, and administration.

Magnolia Regional Health Center offers two PGY1 pharmacy residency positions annually in an acute care hospital setting. The residency features four weeks of orientation to the department, 3 weeks in both administration and informatics/automation, and seven 6 week-long learning experiences. Throughout the year, residents will have the opportunity to participate in different longitudinal experiences, including a major residency project and academia. Residents have the opportunity to present in-services to other healthcare providers, as well as serve as preceptors to pharmacy students during IPPE and APPE rotations. Other projects are also required throughout the year. Teaching opportunities are available, including a teaching certificate program available through the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy.

Required Longitudinal Rotations: Academia Longitudinal Experience, Research/Project Longitudinal Experience

Elective Rotations: Advanced Practice Experiences in core rotations or others available per resident interest
