Magnolia Regional Health Center (MRHC) announced today that both the hospital and affiliated physicians are currently in network with Cigna and have entered into formal negotiations with the insurance provider.  There is no intention in creating a gap in coverage for Cigna patients of the region.

“We are working diligently with the representatives from Cigna to reach a new agreement for the hospital and affiliated physicians,” said Marc Nakagawa, Chief Financial Officer at MRHC. “We anticipate our current negotiations to be resolved shortly, and patients should not see any change in their coverage due to this new contract.”

MRHC is in the final stages of negotiations for a new Cigna contract, allowing MRHC to remain in network with Cigna covered patients. Cigna patients can continue to use the hospital and its affiliated physicians. Patients that desire to seek healthcare at MRHC and affiliated physicians should not see a change in their coverage with the new contract and can continue to see the provider in network of their choice.

Changes in CHIP Coverage

In terms of CHIP coverage, patients of the region need to expect some changes. Effective on October 31, 2019, Magnolia Health Plan will no longer be a Mississippi Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) administrator.

These changes are a direct result of decisions made by Magnolia Health Plan and not Magnolia Regional Health Center. Patients will and need to swap plans. All providers credentialed and participating with Mississippi Physicians Care Network (MPCN) will remain in network for MPCN.

All CHIP members will be reassigned by the Mississippi Department of Medicaid to another administrator, being either UnitedHealthcare Community Plan or Molina Health. These new CHIP contracts with UnitedHealthcare Community Plan and Molina will take effect on November 1, 2019. Magnolia Health Plan will continue to reimburse claims for covered MSCAN, Ambetter, and Allwell benefits for enrolled and eligible members.
